Business Development Lead - Biotechnology Research


Hartmann Young is partnered with a pioneering startup company, looking to simplify molecular testing and quantification for biomarkers and RNA therapeutics. They're seeking a Business Development Lead with a scientific background to drive their commercial success.


The role

Day to day, you'll navigate complex and technical markets, driving commercial activity from lead generation to deal closure. You'll combine scientific knowledge with business acumen, and work alongside technical and executive team members to shape the product positioning in the market. The team is based in Newcastle, so ideally you'll travel in a couple of days a week to encourage knowledge transfer and team integration.


The person

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Either a Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry or Life Sciences field;
  • 2+ years' commercial or industry experience;
  • Experience using and maintaining a CRM system;
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50%) across the UK as required.


An existing network in biotech, pharma and CRO would be beneficial, but isn't essential. We're looking for someone collaborative and driven, with a passion for creating long-term, mutual partnership over short-term success.
