Job summary
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our dynamic Biochemistry team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality Clinical Biochemistry services across two general hospitals, with your primary base being Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
The position is full-time, totalling hours per week. Core working shifts will be scheduled between 09:00 to 17:10 and 10:20 to 18:30, Monday through Friday. Additionally, you will be expected to participate in rotas to cover Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as Public and Bank Holidays, as needed.

Main duties of the job
As an Associate Practitioner, you will undertake a range of healthcare scientific tasks, including standard biomedical investigations and specialized tests on various body fluids, such as blood, urine, and faeces, under the supervision of an HCPC-registered practitioner. You will rotate through different sections of the Biochemistry laboratory based on your experience and training. Your responsibilities will also include performing quality control and maintenance on complex analysers, assisting with basic troubleshooting, supporting Biomedical Scientists with routine and advanced tests, and providing training and supervision to MLA staff. Previous experience in an NHS Clinical Biochemistry laboratory is desirable.
