Analytical Chemist

Responsibilities

Working integrally within the BYK Widnes R&D department, this is a hands-on laboratory based role. Wherein, core responsibilities include: providing analytical chemistry service to the BYK Widnes Technical centre and our global partners, supporting the Widnes site production in quality incident resolution and stock management, delivering BYK Widnes raw material approvals, and providing bench chemist support to new product development projects.

The role will require competency in inorganic analytics, and will be the main service provider for atomic force microscopy for all global partners. Additionally, the role will lead investigations into existing and new specialised characterisation techniques in areas of novel inorganic materials, formulation science, and have involvement in third party collaborations to extend our range of commercially available additives. Reviewing technical literature, attending conferences and working with academic partners to improve characterisation of existing and new materials to support new R&D projects and meet regulatory challenges to expand the product portfolio will be key.
