-Business Development / Life Sciences / International Consulting-

An expanding British consulting firm is currently recruiting a Business Development Manager to join its Japan team.

The Business Development Manager will support international clients in medtech and life sciences by developing growth strategies, identifying customers and partners, and managing business development activities in the Japanese market.

The ideal candidate should have experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IVD or life sciences, together with Business level of fluency in Japanese and English.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement market entry and growth strategies for international clients in Japan
  • Manage the full sales and licensing cycle from lead generation to negotiation and account management
  • Identify, approach and meet potential customers and partners in Japan
  • Build sales funnels, gather market feedback and refine client market strategies
  • Provide clients with progress updates through meeting notes, reports and regular calls
  • Arrange and support client visits to Japan, including customer meetings and interpretation where required
  • Provide cultural and commercial context to support successful cross-border business development

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in Japan within pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IVD or life sciences
  • Science degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry, immunology, biomedical science or a related field
  • Business level of fluency in Japanese and English
  • Strong interest in business development and sales
  • Ability to understand new technologies and explain complex information clearly to stakeholders
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and client management skills
  • Interest in innovation, healthcare, wellness and international business

Conditions

  • Location: Japan
  • Working Style: hybrid
  • Salary: JPY per annum depending on experience
  • Job Type: permanent, full-time
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday
  • Start: negotiable
