This gives us the freedomto take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research.Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turnour science into benefits for human health and the economy.  /n/nAbout the role…  /n/n We are looking for an enthusiastic andmeticulous research assistant, who will assist in a large-scaleneuronal inactivation screen. This will include cutting-edgegenetic tools to manipulate the activity of individual neuronsacross the brain. The project involves working closely with a PhDstudent to cross hundreds of fly stocks and test the behaviouraleffects using custom-built recording devices. The successfulcandidate will learn to use and troubleshoot Raspberry Pi-basedbehavioural rigs and become familiar with command line. Technicalskills can be learned in the position, but past research experiencedoing hands-on experiments is essential. There will be theopportunity to learn python programming if desired. /n/n For aproactive candidate, there would also be the opportunity to lead anindependent research project, including long-term projects withstrategic direction from the Group Leader.
