Polar Speed, a UPS company, is a logistics company and innovative provider of temperature-sensitive transportation and pharmaceutical supply chain solutions in the UK.
Position Summary:
TRANSPORT ASSOCIATE
BASED: Polar Speed Distribution Limited, 648 River Gardens, Feltham, TW14 0RB
SALARY: £32K PER ANNUM
HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY - 40 HOURS PER WEEK - 8am - 5pm - shift patterns may vary.
Polar Speed has a reputation for quality, compliance, operational and customer-facing technology and monitoring solutions in the growing temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical logistics market in the UK. The company specializes in active temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers, and medical care surgeries as well as to end patients which it serves through its homecare business. Its customers include some of the best-known pharmaceutical brands in the world.
Reporting to the Transport Manager and Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for successfully supporting the Transport function. You’ll work 40 hours per week and must be flexible and prepared to work additional hours as and when required to meet our service requirements which may be of an urgent medical nature.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily coordination and monitoring of company drivers and subcontractors. Developing excellent working relationships with internal departments - Operations, Customer Services Team, Relationship Managers, and the Overseas office and agents.
Support and assist when dealing with special requirements, informing the Customer Services Group accordingly.
Produce daily reports, which detail any Transport issues within the company network, as instructed by the Transport Manager.
Brief and debrief drivers.
Ensure that temperature compliance has been maintained by reviewing journey tickets.
Collate fuel and wages information, and support with operational telephone calls.
Ensure effective handover to the Planning, Warehouse, and Transport departments.
Key Skills/Experience/Requirements:
Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Good working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Intranet, Polar Track.
Team player mentality.
Good working knowledge of the transport logistics industry.
Ability to build effective working relationships with customers and other departments within the network, whilst appreciating the need for maintaining confidentiality.
Previous temperature control experience desirable but not essential.
Works well under pressure, with ability to use own initiative and prioritise workload.
Desirable experience of collection and delivery knowledge at Heathrow airport, but not essential.
Cargo operative training is preferred.
