Job Description

Job Summary:

Teledyne Valeport Ltd, manufacturers of underwater measuring equipment for inshore, coastal and offshore markets, have a vacancy for a Technical Sales role. Can you apply your technical knowledge along with sales skills to generate and develop new sales leads and provide technical assistance to customers as required so they make the right product choice?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Assist Sales and Sales Management in the planning and execution of technical pre-sales requirements for all accounts needing applications or technical pre-sales support, with a goal to define a closure plan and grow sales.
  2. Assume a lead role in defining technical objectives and scope, defining technical solutions, and identifying limitations of the Business Unit’s Product Line for all sales requiring technical assistance. Work cooperatively with Sales and Sales Management to define the presentation and capture plan.
  3. Assist customers to understand how our products will satisfy their particular technical application/needs, quote and/or support sales team in closure of these sales.
  4. Manage customer interaction for technical communications, both in pre-and post-sales situations, regarding the integration of Teledyne Valeport products into Customer end-products.
  5. Respond to incoming customer sales enquiries & distribute to the global Teledyne Marine sales team if required.
  6. Recommend our instrumentation to customers, documenting how such changes will lower costs or increase efficiency.
  7. Respond as required to functional and technical RFIs / RFQs / RFPs.
  8. Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products or services to customers and prospective customers.
  9. Support the maintenance of a library of application and training notes for the Business Unit’s Product Lines; Work in cooperation with Sales and Sales Management to define Application Note needs, focus, and scope.
  10. Assist the Business Unit in defining new market potential consistent with the objectives of the Business Unit, and requirements to address that potential. Maintain customer contact with existing key clients at the technical level to assure customer satisfaction of all key clients.
  11. Assist in the definition of technical and application scope for the Business Unit’s new product programs.
  12. Keep abreast of current and emerging technology and operational trends.
  13. Assist in pre-sales road shows or direct customer sales as directed by Sales and Sales Management.
  14. Degree qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering, oceanographic, hydrographic, or marine science discipline preferred.
  15. Experience with the underwater, ROV and survey market preferred.
  16. Strong technical skills.
  17. Languages needed – English, fluent. Second language would be advantageous.
  18. Excellent communication ability with all nationalities, written as well as verbal.
  19. General computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
