An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join the Clinical Trials Team. Joining other experienced clinical pharmacists and technicians, you will be supported to develop and deliver pharmaceutical care to the population of Tayside.
As a key member of the Clinical Trials team, you will build on existing good practice and work closely with colleagues to ensure compliance with GCP, deliver improvements and streamline working practices.
This is an exciting time to join our team in this position, working with the Research and Development department in the delivery of an innovative and expanding research program. The successful applicant will have opportunities to support their development, with measurable objectives agreed to stretch you and continually improve the service.
Tayside Medical Sciences Centre (TASC) was established in 2010 to combine the established research strengths of NHS Tayside (NHST) and the University of Dundee (UoD). A key aim of this partnership is to catalyse the design and delivery of clinical research in a safe, effective and efficient manner and to increase opportunities for participation in clinical research within our region. TASC is a core part of the NHS Research Scotland, (NRS) and it's clinical research infrastructure.
The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist is a member of the Senior Management Team in TASC. They play a vital lead professional role in a number of specialist review committees, including Sponsorship Committee for drug trials lead by NHST and UoD researchers, the Advanced Therapy and Gene Modification Safety Committee and the ongoing review of early phase trials hosted in the Board.
There is a portfolio of 100+ Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products active at any time with approximately 40 new CTIMPs commencing each year
Bringing the pharmacists unique expertise and skill set, the postholder will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise clinical outcomes and minimise the risk of harm from medicines, to provide care that is tailored to the needs of individuals. There is the opportunity to gain experience in delivering pharmacist-led clinics or integrate to MDT out-patient pathways within a speciality. The post will support NHS Tayside-wide medicine governance activities delegated under the supervision of a senior member of the team. You will also take an active role in the training and development of colleagues, including junior staff and students.
