Astute's Power Team is partnered with one of the leading Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station operators in the UK, with a combined portfolio of 3.3GW, to recruit for a Shift Team Leader to join their CCGT plant in Southwick, West Sussex.

The vital Shift Team Leader role comes with a basic salary range between £57,000 - £62,000 + £12,087 shift allowance + £2,100 south east living allowance + overtime + up to 30% bonus + Private Medical + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for:

The day-to-day management of Shift Team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Managing the site's safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

A minimum HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline - this is a necessity
A Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous
Having HV SAP/AP experience will be advantageous

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:

Prior experience in an operational role within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemicals, Paper Mills, etc
Senior Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watch-keeping experience will also be considered (Petty Officers/Chief Petty Officers/Warrant Officers) - ideally those who has experience with steam generation equipment
Excellent proven leadership skills

A starting basic salary between £57,000 - £62,000
