£50,000 - £65,000 + Commission

We’re supporting a highly respected and successful engineering manufacturer who supply machinery into the pharmaceutical and medical industry.

As part of their continued growth and global customer demand, they’re looking to appoint a Service Engineer (electrically biased) who can take a hands-on approach to installations, commissioning, IQ/OQ, and preventative maintenance across bespoke equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Attend customer sites across the UK and internationally (travel can be a choice of 30% to 50%) for installation, commissioning, service and support.

  • Execute FAT testing prior to dispatch at the UK facility.

  • Execute SAT at customer sites.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams (mechanical, EC&I) to deliver exceptional technical service and ensure quality standards are met.

  • Maintain documentation and contribute to equipment qualification protocols (IQ/OQ).

  • Respond to urgent service calls when needed, ensuring swift resolution and customer satisfaction.

  • Support project teams on wiring/testing when not on-site.

    What You’ll Need:

  • A degree or similar qualification in Electrical Engineering (or related field).

  • Previous experience in a similar technical service or commissioning role.

  • Exposure to working in or with regulated sectors (e.g. pharma/chemical).

  • Familiarity with CAD, control panel layouts and technical documentation.

  • A customer-focused mindset and ability to travel internationally at short notice.

    Why Join?

  • A business investing in its people, technology and facilities — operating from a brand-new manufacturing site in the Northwest.

  • A culture rooted in collaboration, professional development and long-term progression.

  • Competitive salary and package including bonus, travel expenses, and generous overtime structure.

  • This is a brilliant opportunity for a skilled engineer who thrives on variety and global exposure, and wants to be part of a technically advanced, supportive team

The Future of Biotechnology Jobs: Careers That Don’t Exist Yet

Biotechnology is one of the most transformative sectors of the 21st century. It sits at the intersection of biology, technology, and engineering, and is already reshaping healthcare, agriculture, and industry. In the UK, biotechnology contributes billions to the economy, with innovation clusters in Cambridge, Oxford, London, and Manchester producing world-leading breakthroughs in genomics, cell therapies, and synthetic biology. But what we see today is just the beginning. Advances in gene editing, biomanufacturing, AI-driven drug discovery, and personalised medicine are accelerating so quickly that many of the most important biotechnology careers of the future don’t even exist yet. Just as jobs like “social media manager” or “cloud architect” would have been unimaginable twenty years ago, biotechnology is creating new professions at a speed that outpaces current education and training frameworks. This article explores the future of biotechnology jobs, the types of careers that don’t yet exist, why they are emerging, and how the UK workforce can prepare.
