An experienced Sequencing Scientist is required to join an exciting genomics project in Milton Keynes, MK6. This is a temporary contract runnig until the end of April 2025 initially, dealing with clinical samples in a hospital lab environment.

The Sequencing Scientist will be responsible for QC, preparation and sequencing of clinical samples using Nanopore Sequencing Technologies. Specific tasks include:

  • Sample quantification including, qubit, plate reader and other common QC platforms
  • Sample shearing using G-tubes, Megarupter and FastPrep.
  • DNA size selection
  • Loading and running of Flow cells on PromethION sequencing devices.

The ideal Sequencing Scientist will come from a chemistry, biochemistry or similar scientific background and must have previous next generation sequencing library preparation experience.

While the role is based in Milton Keynes, some of the initial training will take place in Oxford for which local accommodation and expenses can be provided.
