Senior Structural Engineer – Birmingham
£45,000 - £55,000 + Unique Projects + Hybrid + Flexible Working + Bonus + Car Allowance

This isn’t just another engineering job. It’s your opportunity to design the backbone of cutting-edge facilities where life-saving therapies are created, where biotech breakthroughs are born, and where the future of healthcare takes shape.

We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with ambition, technical expertise, and the desire to build more than just buildings—you’ll be building a legacy. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping some of the most complex and high-impact projects in the life sciences sector, from pharmaceutical manufacturing plants to research labs tackling the world’s most pressing health challenges.

Why This Role is Different

  • Your designs will save lives. Literally. These are facilities where vaccines, cancer treatments, and other groundbreaking therapies are manufactured.

  • You’ll lead with purpose. You won’t be another cog in the machine. You’ll have autonomy, the chance to build your own team, and a clear path to department leadership.

  • Every day will challenge you. From seismic resilience to sterile room loadings, you’ll solve structural puzzles most engineers never get to see.

  • Your voice will matter. No red tape. No endless layers of approval. Just brilliant minds working together to create something that matters.

    What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee structural design on major industrial and life science facilities.

  • Break down project requirements, write scopes of work, and deliver design packages from concept to construction.

  • Perform calculations, structural analysis (STAAD, TEDDS, etc.), and develop full drawing sets (Revit, AutoCAD).

  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and clients to deliver integrated, code-compliant solutions.

  • Act as technical authority on Eurocodes, BS standards, and relevant international regulations.

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, with an eye toward building your own high-performing team.

  • Engage with site teams during construction to solve real-world problems with practical solutions.

  • Participate in shaping design standards and driving engineering innovation across the business.

    What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in structural engineering, ideally within complex industrial, pharma, or biotech environments.

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng).

  • On the path to chartership (or already chartered) with IStructE or ICE.

  • Skilled in structural modelling tools and BIM (Revit, Tekla, STAAD Pro).

  • Strong grasp of Eurocodes, BS standards, and international building regulations.

  • Ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and lead with confidence.

    What You’ll Get in Return

  • Projects that actually matter—not office blocks or parking garages, but places where science changes the world.

  • A fast-track to leadership, with full support to grow your own team and shape your future.

  • A collaborative culture—you’ll work with passionate experts who genuinely care about impact, not just invoices.

  • Flexible hybrid working, generous benefits, and a long-term career with global opportunities
