Job Summary

ProAxsis Ltd. is a commercial-stage, diagnostics company utilising its innovative, patented ProteaseTag® technology to develop and supply assays focusing on respiratory biomarkers. We are looking to recruit a Senior Scientist to join our dynamic team to support ongoing R&D and clinical services projects as well as the manufacturing and supply of our Research Use Only products.


Responsibilities/Key Duties

·       Conduct ELISA based assays for active protease biomarkers as part of ongoing product improvement R&D projects.

·       Assist in the execution of clinical services projects, manufacture of existing company products and development/validation of novel biomarker assays.

·       Ensure all clinical services and manufacturing activities are executed in compliance with defined procedures.

·       Prepare relevant paperwork and ensure that accurate and detailed documentation, laboratory records and study files are maintained.

·       Perform critical analysis of results and provide input into trouble shooting activities.  

·       If required, provide input to and support grant projects to include but not limited to, project ideas, application completion and grant claim activities.

·       Proactive analysis of scientific and clinical publications for identification of novel biomarkers targets and market need in relation to opportunistic translation of ProAxsis technology.

·       Provide regular progress updates to your line manager and other members of the ProAxsis team as needed.

·       Carry out routine laboratory tasks to ensure appropriate maintenance of equipment and laboratory space.

·       Plan own day-to-day activities within framework of ongoing work.

·       Liaise on a regular basis with other ProAxsis team members and proactively support and assist others where necessary to ensure wider group goals are achieved.




Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

•   Graduate degree in a relevant science-related subject.

•  Previous practical experience of conducting ELISA-type assays, this must be beyond graduate level experience (undergraduate only experience is not sufficient).

·     Previous experience (>2 years) of working within a commercial diagnostics company would be highly desirable.

•  Experience of handling respiratory samples would be highly desirable.

·     Driven, motivated and organised with excellent attention to detail.

·     Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability.

·     Excellent verbal and communication skills.

·     Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

·     Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

·     “Small company mindset”, with willingness to seek innovative solutions to challenges.

·     Eligibility to work in the UK is essential.


This is a permanent, full-time role with a base salary commensurate with experience and performance. The company also offers a generous holiday and sickness allowance, as well as inclusion in the Benenden Healthcare package.

The successful applicant will be based at the company’s Head Office in Antrim.
