Senior Scientist, Scientific Communications

CK Group are recruiting for a Senior Operations Scientist, to join a specialist company providing inspection, calibration and testing services, based in Staffordshire, on a permanent basis.


You will be leading operations, for a dedicated team of scientists, making measurements on gas mixtures, using a range of bespoke gas chromatographs.


Salary:


£32,000 – £34,000 per annum, depending on experience.


Your main duties will be (but not limited) to:

  • Prioritisation and scheduling of all calibration and testing work to all laboratory-based scientists.
  • Liaising with the Laboratory Manager on scheduling priorities and specific customer requirements.
  • Operation of the calibration and/or testing laboratories on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assisting and leading the laboratory team to access the suitability of calibration data to maintain the highest level of quality.
  • Deal with customer queries by telephone, fax, website and email in a professional and timely manner.
  • Liasing with relevant laboratory staff to ensure instrument maintenance is up to date. 
  • Familiarisation with all ISO 17025 / ISO 17043 / ISO 17034 accredited technical methods and processes within the quality system.
  • Generate safety data sheets and CLP labels using the approved software.


Essential Competencies:

  • Previous experience in operations leadership supervision.
  • Excellent Communications skills, including to customers and stakeholders.
  • May be required to move cylinders weighing up to 56 kg, appropriate training will be required.


Your Background:


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Have a degree in Chemical or Physical science.
  • Knowledge and experience of gas chromatography is highly desirable.
  • Ability to follow an approved and documented procedure.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant ISO accreditations.
  • Knowledge and experience of people management would be advantageous.
