Reed Scientific is partnering with a dynamic Biotech in Glasgow who are connected with the research and development within crop protection. We are looking for a PhD level qualified Molecular Biologist with strong experience within biological production methods and processes.

Responsibilities within the role:

Design and create microbial strains to produce biologically active peptides.
Develop new ideas for biological production methods, including both upstream and downstream processes.
Contribute to research goals and project objectives.
Plan and conduct experiments, analyze results, and help develop experimental strategies.
Mentor and train less experienced team members.
Document and analyze research data, maintain records, and draft reports.

Qualifications & Skills required:

Essential:
PhD in Life Sciences
Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques
Experience within multistage purification processes (proteins & peptides)
Specific hands-on experience with affinity steps and/or size exclusion chromatography
2+ years of industrial experience in molecular biology and microbial cell culture, especially fermentation
Experience with HPLC and LC-MS analysis would be beneficial
