We currently have an opportunity for a Senior / Principal Transport Planner to join our busy Transport Planning team, based in Cambridge, on a permanent basis. The role would suit a transport planner with a broad understanding of all elements of the profession, ideally with a focus on transport planning for development projects and the ability to work on public sector schemes.

Our Cambridge office is located in the heart of the city, close to the University of Cambridge, the city centre, and scenic spots like the River Cam and Botanic Gardens. It offers excellent access to London and facilitates collaboration with colleagues and clients.

We work with excellent clients on exciting projects such as North West Cambridge Development (Eddington), Addenbrooke’s Hospital Biomedical Campus, Waterbeach Barracks, Tendring and Colchester Borders Garden Community, and Alconbury Weald. The role involves working on a variety of projects, from large strategic land development proposals to smaller sites, including infrastructure delivery and public sector work. You will develop your transport planning skills and contribute to a broader multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include supporting technical outputs like Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, transport studies, and technical analysis. You will liaise with clients, design teams, authorities, and the public, and will mentor junior team members.

About You

You should be degree qualified in transportation, geography, engineering, or a related field. Experience with the planning system, Transport Assessments, Travel Planning, junction modelling, and relevant software is essential. Strong numerical skills and experience managing budgets and quality at project level are required. Ideally, you are working towards a professional qualification such as Chartered Transport Planning Professional.

You should have a proven track record of successful project delivery, client management, and stakeholder engagement. While our Cambridge team provides support and mentoring, the ability to manage daily work independently is important.
