The Role

The Senior Planner is responsible for the creation and maintenance of all project schedules across the full lifecycle of the project, inclusive of all required supporting documentation, procedures and standards. These responsibilities range from liaising with the business development, engineering and project management teams to develop a fully cost and resource loaded schedule for tender / contractual submissions, through to the management of the periodic progress updates and submissions with all required reporting outputs.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior Planner include (but are not limited to):

    • Development and management of all key scheduling processes and key documentation (inclusive of robust basis of schedule, WBS/OBS/CBS structures, Cost Accounts, activity coding structures)
    • Development and management of all required fully cost and resource loaded Primavera P6 schedules as needed for the Project, inclusive of integrated master schedules, detailed construction schedules (level 4 / 5) and periodic lookahead schedules.
    • Embedding schedule risk management best practices, ensuring that all schedules contain appropriate time risk allowances using Quantitative Schedule Risk Management Analysis (QSRA).
    • Management of the alignment and interaction between the schedule, project cost estimate / cashflow and resource forecasting and utilisation.
    • Establish effective change control management including the use of techniques such as critical path analysis and float erosion to provide early warning of potential issues.
    • To establish and manage the periodic progress capture, schedule update and submission process and outputs in-line with NEC4 requirements.
    • Development and production of all required monthly reporting outputs (e.g. planned vs actual progress reporting / narrative, S-Curves, manpower histograms)
    • Work closely with the Project Controls Manager and commercial teams to establish cost engineering systems to monitor, control and report costs (inclusive of all Earned Value Management output requirements).
    • Provide contract management support including development of bespoke and/or generic rules of credit, KPI development and monitoring, NEC programme acceptance management and production / assessment of compensation event impact schedules
    • Liaise with PMs/RDs to manage the provision of appropriate resources and expertise to successfully deliver the project control activities
    • Support the wider business with the identification and adoption of project controls best practices



Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum of 8 years' experience in an EPC environment
    • NEC3/4 qualification and/or significant experience
    • Expert level capability in the use of Primavera P6 planning software
    • Capability in Microsoft 365 applications (MS Office, teams, etc.)
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, plus strong analytical skills


Desirable

    • BSc / BEng / MSc in Engineering, Construction Project Management or relevant subject
    • APM, AcostE or APE membership and/or qualification
    • Certified Oracle P6 Training (P102 & P106)
    • Power BI, Power Platform and SAP experience
