Job Description

In this role, you will provide essential medical support for our Vaccines and Public Health Medical strategy by collaborating closely with the Director of Medical Affairs for Vaccines and Public Health. Your contributions will be vital in developing and implementing our strategic planning for the UK, as you provide medical insights and apply your expert knowledge of our products and relevant disease areas, ensuing operational excellence within the UK and Ireland (UKI) medical affairs team.

It will be crucial for you to identify, develop, and maintain credible relationships with healthcare professionals, providers, and academic centres and therefore you will spend 60% of your role in the field. You should be comfortable working cross-functionally and be a collaborative team player, engaging effectively with global and regional colleagues to foster partnerships that drive the delivery of company and team objectives. In this role you will:

  • Provide expert and unbiased medical and scientific support to healthcare professionals, enhancing understanding of our product portfolio and clinical programs.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare professionals, Scientific Leaders, and academic centres to drive improved patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of our Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) aligned with company therapeutic areas, ensuring impactful project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support medical education initiatives, symposia, and other key projects that enhance our medical presence.
  • Facilitate and oversee data generation activities (phases I-IV), identifying innovative research opportunities and suitable investigators.
  • Collaborate with market access and regulatory teams to ensure timely patient access to our medicines through various programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to local and global regulations, maintaining the highest standards of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Represent the Medical Department at key medical events, staying informed on clinical advancements and competitor insights to enhance our strategic positioning.

What you will need:

You will need a strong scientific background in medical or a biological science. You should be confident in your communication and interpersonal skills with excellent strategic planning and exceptional organisational skills. You should also be able to prioritise work effectively; balancing both long- and short-term requirements and be able to demonstrate previous excellent cross functional working. You will have a good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance laws and relevant pharmaceutical laws and regulations.

Other Requirements include:

  • PhD in Life Sciences or GMC registered MD or Pharmacist
  • Vaccines and/or Public Health industry experience
  • Field-based experience and a willingness to travel (up to 60% of the time)
  • High level of knowledge of ABPI Code of Practice and GCP; Potential to obtain AQP or final signatory status within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Proven relationship building skills with scientific leaders (either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/academic setting).
  • Understanding of the wider vaccines and public health environment and key opportunities for pharma to partner effectively within the scope of the ABPI Code of Practice.
  • Therapy Area knowledge (respiratory and adult vaccines) and experience either in the pharmaceutical industry or in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
