Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

£60k- £80k + Profit Share + Travel Allowance + Overtime + Pension + Income Protection

  • The Senior Mechanical Designer will drive project design direction, oversee and delegate tasks to other Mechanical Designers, participate in project meetings with internal team members/clients, manage project budgets and schedule and be responsible for the success of the mechanical design portion of the project
  • Be responsible for the creation and development of design solutions for special purpose high -speed automated life science assembly and packaging machinery projects
  • Produce technical documentation for life science projects-GAMP 5 design and validation documents
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate functionality, component sizing, speeds / rates, failure modes, etc. to ensure the designed solution will be feasible, robust, and reliable
  • Collaborate on design solutions with cross-functional teams
  • Develop concepts and 3D designs
  • Review other designer’s concepts, designs, and drawings to verify feasibility, accuracy, thoroughness and alignment to the company standards and best practices
  • Assist with the development of other Mechanical Designers throughcoaching/mentorship
  • Provide support during the manufacturing and build stages including troubleshooting, problem solving and debugging to overcome any issues or challenges
  • Assist with improving the Mechanical Design group through initiatives and improvements

The Person:

  • Strong concept design capability for automated machinery, c10 years design experience
  • Experience with complex mechanism design (high speed servo pick and place systems, robotics)
  • Knowledge of asynchronous & synchronous transport systems
  • Strong aptitude of 3D CAD design, 2D drawings and on-the-floor equipment troubleshooting
  • Passion to motivate / develop team members
  • Experience with compliance to equipment design standards

(i.e. ISO, ANSI, CSA, OSHA, CE, etc.) and GAMP 5

We’re ideally seeking candidates who are open to working from offices in Scotland.Relocation support is availablefor those moving within the UK.
