Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer – Manchester


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a specialist building services consultancy as a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer, based in Manchester. This is a permanent full-time role, offering 36.25 hours per week within an agile working framework.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You’ll lead projects, manage junior engineers, and be client-facing—handling everything from inception to completion. Your key duties will include:

• Acting as Project Leader on selected projects

• Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams

• Attending principal meetings and delivering client presentations

• Raising the technical bar for electrical engineering within the team

• Developing into a key contact for clients and contributing to repeat business

• Working on a broad range of challenging and diverse projects

• Producing drawings, specifications, and calculations (or guiding others)

• Working closely with colleagues to achieve shared project goals


Who they’re looking for:

• Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (Chartered or working towards). Candidates with HNC/HND and strong design experience considered.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Revit, Amtech, and Relux/Dialux software

• Strong knowledge of British and European standards, Building Regulations, and preferably HTMs

• Professional membership with CIBSE or IET

• Good understanding of HV/LV systems and embedded generation integration

• Experience specifying renewable technologies and working knowledge of BREEAM

• Appreciation of mechanical engineering to collaborate effectively across disciplines

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• A proactive learner with a desire to develop and expand expertise
