The Role

Wood is looking for an enthusiastic team member that has seasoned experience with Electrical Design to support the growing Engineering and Design team in Hull. The senior candidate will work in accordance with Wood quality standards and promote safe working practices.

As a Senior Electrical designer, you will produce drawings predominantly using BricsCAD design software to Wood standards and client project specifications.

As a senior, you'll show leadership in the design community by providing guidance and supervise small work groups.

The role is a hybrid arrangement that supports remote working and an agreed number of days at our Hull office.

You will work closely with Engineers and take direction from them on deliverables required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical responsibilities

Produce new and update existing detailed Electrical design documentation.

Apply Wood Quality and Engineering standards to project design

Take a senior position in team meetings and project updates

Produce Design deliverables to support client projects

Carry out Design checking tasks

Organise and update project deliverables status and maintain documents to track project progress.

Confidently challenge engineering design when something does not seem correct.

Take responsibility and manage their time to ensure project deadlines are maintained

Ensure allocated hours for projects stay within budget and give sensible forcasting on delivery.

Be pro-active in their personal development and strive to improve their capabilities.

Support other activities; typically:

Compile document work packs

Comply with industry standards.

Carry out site surveys.

Comply with company and site procedures; typically Engineering design, project control, documentation control.

Contribute to team to support continual improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:

HNC Electrical / Electrical Engineering

Experience as an Electrical designer within the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industries including hazardous areas.

Good knowledge of codes, standards and accepted working practices with respect to instrument design in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industries.

Good communication skills

Competent using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Experience creating and modifying PDFs with Adobe Acrobat

Proficient in the use the following software packages: AutoCAD, BricsCAD

Strong attention to detail

Keen to develop own skills and abilities.
