Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Commercial) - London or Bicester

We now seek a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to be based out of our London or Bicester office.


Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the running of medium size projects and multiple smaller sized projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. Note. this could include producing design packages for contractors working on a design and build contract.
  • Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Surveys, tests and reports on existing electrical installations
  • Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Day to day decision making on project progress
  • Direct liaison with and providing advice to clients
  • Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors’ teams
  • Carries out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Responsible for technical content and accuracy of Trainee, Graduates and Engineers
  • Validation and checking of designs and specifications
  • Carrying out technical review of contractor’s technical submissions, working drawings and samples.
  • Ability to carry out problem solving on site
  • Carry out QA/QC inspections on site and produce associated reports
  • Attend witness testing activities on site and produce associated reports
  • Support the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective.


Role Requirements

  • BEng, MSc, and have sufficient experience
  • MCIBSE/MIET or HNC/HND + appropriate experience or equivalent · Working towards Chartered Eng. status
  • Good site-based experience with a practical background preferred
  • Good 11kV experience would be preferred
  • Competent in producing specifications and design/drawings for several building types within the following key sectors:
  • Logistics centres
  • Retail
  • I.T. sector
  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Education
  • Sound knowledge of CDM Regulations and production of Designers Risk Assessments
  • Good knowledge of key Health & Safety Issues and legislation
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
  • Knowledge of REVIT and ability to mark-up drawings using Bluebeam software or an equivalent PDF editor
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to use Trimble/AMTECH software for cable calculations and protection studies
  • Good understanding of BS standards
  • Ability to prioritise own workload whilst working on multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Managerial Skills
  • Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics
  • Charter and Ethics in Practice Guideline
  • Reports to Associate
  • Responsible for Delegated responsibility for Graduate/Intermediate Engineer
