Senior Controls Engineer, £60K, Commutable from Warwick, Coventry, Warwickshire


  • Controls Engineer / Control Systems Engineer / PLC Controls Engineer role focussed on designing and delivering cutting-edge automation systems for some of the worlds leading pharmaceutical, medical device, and FMCG companies.
  • £60K as a guide + paid overtime + flexible working hours + 28 days holiday plus all bank holidays + excellent pension + bonus and more!
  • As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, programming, and implementing PLC and HMI/SCADA systems for bespoke automated machinery. You will lead control system design, mentor junior engineers, and stay hands-on with development from concept to customer handover.


Your background as a Senior Controls Engineer:


  • Experience designing and delivering control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs Beckhoff or Siemens control systems experience would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with IEC61131-3 Structured Text and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with motion control and industrial protocols (EtherCAT, Profinet, CAN, etc.).
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.


Senior Controls Engineer Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop PLC/HMI/SCADA software from scratch.
  • Lead commissioning, testing, and support for advanced automation systems.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define requirements and solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their technical work.
  • Produce robust documentation including test protocols and disaster recovery plans.
  • Support system validation (FAT/SAT) in line with industry l regulations.
  • Integrate advanced technologies such as robotics, vision systems, and motion control.
