Cellular Origins is looking for a Senior Scientist to join their growing Cell Processing team. 

This is a lab-oriented role suited to a Process Development Scientist with enthusiasm for automation and delivering scalable Industry 4.0 solutions for cell therapy manufacturing applications. You'll be essential to our mission of enabling our customers to deliver cell therapies to patients at-scale.

You'll adapt to a fast-paced, growth-oriented start up environment while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Managing and executing tasks across multiple programs, ensuring timely delivery to meet ambitious deadlines.

In this role you’ll contribute towards support system and sub-system testing across multi-faceted projects, bridging both early technology and more mature product development, whilst keeping stakeholders abreast of progress. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with our customers to capture process requirements and develop experimental plans focused on bioprocess de-risking. 

Lastly, you’ll have to chance to contribute to enhancing the operational performance of BSL2+ capabilities, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and actively participating in risk assessment activities.

Requirements

  • MSc in Biochemistry / Immunology / Bioprocess engineering or related discipline (PhD desirable)
  • Practical experience working within a Quality by Design (QbD) framework in a Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology R&D setting.
  • Technically experienced in cell therapy and/or bioprocess development with a focus of manufacturing sciences and technology (MSAT) and/or late-stage process development.
  • Practical experience of primary human cell culture, blood processing, semi-automated processing equipment, Design of Experiments (DoE), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to adjust language and/or terminology as appropriate for the audience.
  • Demonstrable innovative skills and experience contributing to complex technology projects.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Practical experience running flow cytometry, dPCR and cell-based assays.
  • Working understanding of the validation requirements for new cell processing paradigms.
