SEN Teaching Assistant - Psychology Graduate (Ideal for Aspiring Therapists or Psychologists)


Location: Barnet North London
Contract: September 2025 July 2026 (Term-Time Only)
Pay: 105.00 per day (PAYE)
Interviews: June/July 2025

Are you a Psychology graduate with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs Looking to gain practical experience in a school before pursuing a career in mental health education or therapy

We are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced boys secondary school in Barnet supporting students aged 1418 with Autism ADHD and a range of additional learning needs.

In this role youll work closely with students across GCSE and A-Level stages providing both in-class and 1:1 support to ensure each student can engage with the curriculum and develop confidence in their learning. Youll play a crucial role in promoting inclusion emotional regulation and academic progress.

Youll join a highly experienced SEND team including other psychology graduates and a qualified SENCo with a therapeutic background who will offer structured guidance and mentorship throughout the academic year.

Were looking for:

  • A First-Class or high 2:1 degree in Psychology (or a related subject)
  • A genuine interest in SEN adolescent development and education
  • Patience empathy and resilience particularly when supporting young people with complex needs
  • A full academic years commitment (term-time only) from September 2025 to July 2026

Whether youre aiming for postgraduate study in Educational Psychology Clinical Psychology or Speech and Language Therapy this role will give you the practical insight and experience that universities and employers highly value.
