The team is involved in multiple stages ofthe drug discovery and development process, from target discoveryall the way to clinical trials. Examples of key preclinicalresearch are published in Yang H et al., Mol Ther. 2016; 24,11;Fergusson J et al., Hepatology 2020; 72,5; Wallace Z et al., MolTher 2024; 32, 678.The postholder will plan, design and executeexperimental investigations to support the advancement of theCompany pipeline, processes and technology capabilities, withguidance from their manager, ensuring that project goals are metwithin time and budget constraints. They will be expected todemonstrate technical proficiency, rigour in assessing their owndata and that of others, scientific creativity and independentthought. This position requires participation and presentation ofresults at internal meetings, sharing information learned atexternal scientific meetings and establishing productiverelationships with colleagues across Research and otherdepartments.Key Responsibilities: * With instruction and guidancefrom manager - plan, design, and execute assignments to meetproject goals within defined timeframes* Execute experiments toaddress key scientific questions and enable project progression,utilizing range of molecular and cellular techniques including someof the following: NextGen sequencing, DD-PCR, qPCR, cell culture,flow cytometry, ELISpots, ELISAs,* Some work will be conducted in acontainment level 3 (CL3 facility) and will require handling ofhuman viruses* Analyse data, interpret results, and makerecommendations* Proactively expand scientific/technical knowledgein relevant fields including HIV/HBV/EBV related disease biologyand drug development through review of scientific literature/conference updates, peer to peer mentoring, and attendance atseminars/conferences in line with company strategy* Workeffectively in a matrixed team structure and as part of crossfunctional teams * Participate and present results at internalmeetings* Establish relationships and possible collaborationswithin and outside of the companyEducation, Experience andKnowledge: Essential Qualifications: * PhD in molecular biology,cell biology, genomics, virology, immunology, or related disciplineand 0-2 years related experience* Alternatively, a BSc or MSc withsignificant work experience in relevant scientific areas * Workedin a bench-based laboratory environment and proficient inthefollowing key techniques:o molecular techniques including some ofthe following: Droplet Digital PCR, NextGen sequencing,Genomics/Transcriptomics, PCR, Mutagenesis, qPCRo Culturing primarycells and/or cell linesPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge/expertise of Immunology/HIV/HBV/EBVFlow cytometry,ELISAs, ELISpots * Viral integration site analysis
