We are supporting a market-leading biotechnology company that is investing heavily in the development of next-generation technologies for the cell and gene therapy space. This role sits within a multidisciplinary Product Development team and is part of a high-impact programme that’s playing a key role in the company's innovation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute laboratory-based experiments to support the development of bioreactor and bioprocessing technologies.

  • Develop and run biological and biochemical assays in support of product prototypes.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and support teams across the product development lifecycle.

  • Troubleshoot and optimise experimental protocols and lab processes.

  • Analyse and interpret data, turning raw results into meaningful insight for cross-functional teams.

  • Document findings in reports and technical documentation; contribute to publications and presentations as needed.

  • Mentor junior team members and laboratory assistants; provide technical oversight where appropriate.

  • Contribute to product design reviews and project planning meetings.

  • Support knowledge transfer and internal training activities with application and service teams.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO and health & safety standards in all lab activities.

    What We’re Looking For

  • PhD or Master’s degree paired with industry experience (Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical studies, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or relevant field)

  • Experience in advanced cell and gene therapy, CAR-T production, T- Cell culture and expertise on phenotypic characterisation and flow cytometry techniques

  • Knowledge of bioprocessing industry, mammalian cell culture, cell and gene therapy principles

  • General

  • Previous experience in bioprocessing in an industrial or research laboratory, operating bioreactors, carrying out aseptic laboratory techniques

  • Experience in designing, planning and executing experiments and delivering data and conclusions for group review

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail

  • Ability to plan own project work and meet deadlines

  • Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Experience with MS Office

  • Experience in MVDA and DOE principles is beneficial
