Description

Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. The company’s mission is to improve human health by making proteins accessible. We are beginning this mission through the launch of our eProtein Discovery™ platform. eProtein Discovery is a breakthrough protein expression, characterization, and purification technology, consisting of a lab-based benchtop instrument, cloud-based software and proprietary cartridges and consumables. The goal is to enable rapid protein access to life science researchers around the world.


The successful candidate will design, analyze, troubleshoot and deliver custom projects using our eProtein Discovery Platform. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot experiments and clearly communicate the results through well-documented reports and presentations. They will have a strong background in molecular biology, protein science, or a related discipline, with proven hands-on experience in an industry setting.


About the role:

  • Execute and analyse experiments using Nuclera’s eProtein Discovery Platform to ensure successful and timely delivery of customer projects.
  • Contribute to the design of experiments to optimise outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot and resolve experimental challenges.
  • Manage multiple projects in parallel, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Follow Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and reproducibility.
  • Communicate findings effectively through well documented reports and presentations.


Requirements

Essential

  • BSc in Protein Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years’ industry experience or MSc with 3 years’ industry experience
  • Demonstrated capability of managing and delivering multiple projects in parallel.
  • Hands-on experience in common molecular biology techniques, including PCR, PCR clean-up and agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • Experience with protein science techniques, including protein expression, affinity-based purification, protein quantification and SDS PAGE analysis.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.


Desirable:

  • PhD in Protein Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with a minimum 1 years’ industry experience
  • Experience operating liquid handling robots such as Tecan and KingFisher.
  • Understanding of the principles of cell-free protein synthesis technologies.
  • Experience in protein engineering, including structure-guided design of protein variants for enhanced stability, activity, or yield.
  • Experience with protein characterisation techniques such as Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC).
