Working in a fast-paced collaborative multifunctional team you will aid development and understanding of the fundamental material science at the heart of the technology. This core capability in the business is vital for both new product developments, supporting products to market and all areas of the business.As a scientist you will be a proficient professional, working alongside experienced teams and collaborating in projects of significant scope. You will use your knowledge of your field to deliver robust, diligent and rigorous technical insight through experimentation and analysis. You will provide hands-on expertise across subjects such as materials science, metallurgy, electrochemical devices, thermodynamics, catalysis, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry and materials characterisation.Key accountabilities. * Provide materials science expertise for significant projects, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary cross functional teams. * Responsible for executing technical tasks and work streams, including reporting and presenting to project leaders and senior technical management. Typically develops annual plans while overseeing activities monthly. * Exhibits leadership by ensuring a safe laboratory environment and actively promoting health and safety protocols. * Plan, conduct and deliver practical experimental plans using the scientific method. * Deliver key scientific information and recommendations to project teams to guide and influence technical decisions. * Work across the Energy Materials Team, and wider business, to upskill team members in material science disciplines as required. * Interface and communicate with internal and external customers and suppliers.Knowledge and skills required for the role: * BSc or equivalent experience in materials science, electrochemistry, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, or related field. * Practical experience and understanding in your area of expertise, along with a working knowledge of other functions or disciplines. * Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information, project plans and requirements to teams, external partners and customers. * Delivery focused approach: being able to use technical knowledge and tools to push the delivery of projects. * Able to solve complex and complicated problems with a defined perspective. * Capable of working independently, safely, with a high level of dexterity and attention to detail. * Skilled in collaborating within cross-functional and cross-project teams and experienced in training and mentoring junior staff. * Possesses scientific curiosity and a strong drive to explore exciting materials challenges while contributing to a team advancing the next generation of solid oxide cell technology. * Knowledge of high temperature electrochemical materials and their application are all desirable.TPA work in partnership with our client on this role, please apply through the link and we will call you to discuss the position and company in more detail
