Smile Education are proud to be working alongside the Shireland UTC Biomedical Academy to assist in their recruitment of a Science Teacher on a full time and long-term basis from September 2025.

Smile Education are a Managed Service Provider for the Shireland Collegiate Trust, meaning we are in partnership with the schools and their first port of call for recruitment. We assist them with both temporary and permanent recruitment, all of their roles come to Smile first, sometimes before advertised by the Schools.

Why This School?

Shireland Biomedical UTC is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and is one of the first UTCs in the UK to specialise in health care and health science. The school are committed to combining academic study with real-life work projects, personal development activities and career opportunities to prepare young people for working life.

The school have recently partnered with Birmingham City University in order to provide students with work experience opportunities and special lectures from academic expects at BCU. This will give students access to unrivalled training facilities and a valuable insight into higher education opportunities.

The school offers a well-established Literacy for Life curriculum at Key Stage 3. This thematic and competency-based curriculum is technology and experience rich, providing an excellent foundation to KS4. This is a project-based learning curriculum that is well suited to agile teachers.

We would like applicants to have demonstrative experience in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Strong working knowledge of effective assessment and intervention is essential to ensure equal opportunities across the school.

To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:

Hold a relevant teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Knowledge of the Secondary Curriculum
