Sample Preparation Technician
The Role
We are looking for a Sample Prep Technician to support our highly respected and knowledgeable Laboratory team. This position requires someone with good organisational skills who is able to clearly follow verbal and written instructions. This is a fast-paced working environment where you will be working alongside a talented team of experts in a friendly, supportive and innovative environment.
This role comes with a salary of £23,481 per annum.

Our RPS Services Division operates from purpose-built laboratory facilities which have a long history of providing expert advice and analytical solutions to a wide range of industrial and service sectors including: pathology & biological, occupational hygiene & environmental & trace organics. Our laboratories enjoy an international reputation for solving complex and novel analytical problems in unusual matrices.
Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing samples of crops and other foodstuffs prior to their analysis. Working as part of a team to achieve goals set by the Laboratory Manager. Maintains a working stock of consumables, which are essential to perform daily activities and tasks. To work as part of a team to ensure that all other routine laboratory tasks are completed to ensure that the Laboratory operates smoothly. Assists in other areas and performs other tasks as directed by the Laboratory Manager or his/her delegate. Adheres to company Health and Safety policies to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure all Quality documentation is followed, adhered to and maintained in-line with procedures developed by the Quality Manager.
To perform all duties in a professional manner at all times, including wearing appropriate safety/work apparel as supplied by RPS.
Experience/Skills
Good time management skills, attention to detail and ability to cope under pressure. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, seeking advice where necessary. Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team. Good inter-personal and communication skills. Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

The role is physically demanding with a high degree of manual handling involved;
Handling of foods, including nuts Working in cold environments Exposure to noise Operating machinery
