CK Group are working in partnership with STORM Therapeutics, to recruit an RNA Biologist to join their Molecular and Cell Biology Team at the Babraham Research Campus. This is a permanent position based in Cambridge.

The Company

STORM Therapeutics is a clinical stage biotechnology company working at the forefront of an emerging field of biology, creating novel therapies that inhibit RNA modifying enzymes for use in oncology and other diseases with high unmet medical need. STORM’s lead clinical program STC-15 is a first-in-classinhibitor of METTL3 and is the first ever RNA methyl transferase inhibitor to enter clinical development.

The ideal candidate will be an early-stage career scientist with a passion for novel innovative approaches to contribute to the company's understanding of RNA modifications in cancer and other diseases.

The key responsibilities will be:

Implementing or developing novel methods to analyse RNA and its modifications by sequencing and other approaches. Profiling gene expression biology through a variety of techniques e.g.ChIP-seq, CLIP-seq, Ribosome profiling. Enabling the automation of NGS library preparations. Learn or develop computational analyses of NGS data. Present results in project team meetings, review literature for novel “omics” approaches and contribute to implementation of novel methods into project work. Maintain an electronic lab note-book and records of experiments, write protocols and assist in the preparation of standard operating procedures and risk assessments.

To be considered for the position you should have the following:

PhD in a relevant life science subject such as Biology or Biochemistry or BSc/MSc with additional 3-5 years of relevant experience. Previous industry experience is a plus but not essential. Enthusiastic self-starter attitude with a passion for innovative science. Extensive hands-on experience with standard molecular biology methods and working with RNA, DNA and proteins. Expertise in RNA biology and working with different classes of RNA is essential. Prior knowledge of specialist methods to analyse specific subtypes or structures of RNA (e.g. tRNA, ncRNA, R-loops) and RNA modifications is highly desirable. Experience with the preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries. Previous experience using automation systems desirable.
