We are seeking

to appoint a highly motivated and skilled computational biologist to join the laboratory led by Dr Monika Gullerova. The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out own academic research and contribute conceptually to the overall research programme. You will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of ncRNA structural biology and RNA-drug interactions, particularly focusing on short non-coding RNAs. This position provides an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, leveraging both computational and experimental approaches to validate and refine predictive models of RNA structure and drug binding. The successful candidate should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in computational biology, statistics or relevant subject area. You should have strong programming skills (Python) and advanced knowledge of at least one deep learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch). You should have experience working with biological analysis pipelines on multi-node compute clusters as well as using Graph Neural Networks (GNN) for feature extraction of drug molecules. Proficiency in statistical analysis and ability to reproduce and improve existing advanced algorithms are essential. Applicants who hold a BSc/MSc degree in a relevant subject will be considered for a Research Assistant position that will be offered at Grade 6: £34,982 - £40,855 p.a. with reasonable adjustments in the job responsibilities.
