Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Rig Lab Technician – Inverters to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:


you will take ownership of day-to-day operations in a cutting-edge lab environment used forlow-voltage (LV)andhigh-voltage (HV)power electronics validation. Focused oninverter technologieswithin electric and hybrid vehicles, this role involves leading testing campaigns, ensuring safety compliance, mentoring junior technicians, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and reliability.


Area of Responsibility

Manage thedaily operationof the electronics lab, ensuring compliance withHealth & Safety regulationsfor LV and HV activities, including ESD handling and risk assessments.


Leadinverter-level and power electronics test campaignswith autonomy and technical ownership.
Define test protocols, tailor lab setups to project requirements, and overseerig commissioningand troubleshooting.
Maintain and calibrate test benches and specialized equipment (., HV rigs, load simulators).
PerformPCB assembly, test, debug, and rework/modification; IPC certification is highly desirable.
Design and build custombreakout boxes,test interfaces, andwiring harnessesfor product validation.
Execute electrical, thermal, and mechanical characterization across a range of automotive applications.
Analyze complex lab data and provide actionable feedback to design and safety engineering teams.
Collaborate closely with product validation, controls, and system integration teams to resolve functional issues.
Mentor and supervise junior technicians, ensuring consistency in documentation, procedures, and lab discipline.
Support system-levelinverter validation—experience beneficial, though not essential.

Knowledge / Experience


Required

Experienceinautomotive power electronics lab testing, with a focus on inverter systems, DC-DC converters, and onboard chargers.


Degree or higher diploma inElectrical Engineering,Mechatronics,Automotive Technology, or related discipline.
Expert-level hands-on experience inPCB testing, debugging, and modification.
Proficient withtest lab instrumentation—oscilloscopes, multimeters, CAN tools, HV probes, and thermal imaging.
Solid understanding ofHV safety, inverter topologies, control schemes, and vehicle architectures.

Preferred

IPC certification(., IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721).


Experience withwiring harness design, manufacture, and fault diagnosis.
Familiarity withLabVIEW,MATLAB, orPythonfor test automation and data processing.

Exposure toEMC testing, failure analysis, and interpreting electrical schematics.
