The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for an experienced and lab-savyResearch Technician, to join our team based inCambridge, UK. In this position you’ll join a laboratory-based group, who is responsible for three key areas: laboratory management, operation of Bioassay Development Mammalian Tissue Culture Suit, maintaining team compliance.

This role will be a full-time temporary (12 months FTC) position based in brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Next to an attractive salary, we offeran annual bonus, multiple benefits such as pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and additionalday off for your birthday.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00 

The Team

You’ll join a close-knit team of 4 Scientists, who are part of Bioassay Development Group, who main responsible is assay development for sample testing, as well as maintenance of laboratories by managing the supplies, functioning equipment and maintenance of tissue culture suite, cell stocks, inventoriesand provision of cultured cells for assays. You’llbelong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.

What we’re looking for

Education:A Bachelor’s degree in life-science discipline, or equivalent experience of at-least 1 year in hands-on laboratory role

Experience:

Theoretical and practical knowledge of mammalian cell culturing

Previous working experience in a life science laboratory environment

Knowledge and understanding of Good Laboratory Standards (GLS)

Basic IT skills (including Microsoft Word/ Excel)

Good time management skills, ability to flex and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis

Excellent organisation, prioritising and planning skills

How you will thrive and create an impact

Developing biochemical and cell-based potency assays based on drug mode of action and carry out routine sample testing

Maintaining of mammalian cell line cultures and frozen stocks

Reviewing and preparing data from conducted experiments

Discuss and experimental findings at internal and cross-functional meetings and co-ordination with other groups across business

Planning future experiments, based on customer’s deadlines and needs
