Job Description Summary

This role is for a technologist position in the Protein Function and Interaction group, part of the Protein and Process Analytics R&D team, whose function is to deliver high-value technical innovation to our client both via specialist analytical projects and as part of wider R&D collaborations.

The position is laboratory-based and will provide analytical support using a range of analytical methods to measure products functions, including binding and kinetic assessment by ELISA, Octet and Biacore as well as metabolic and functional assays such as enzymatic- and cell based assays to R&D projects and a more general analytical testing for collaboration projects, as required.


Key responsibilities include execution of routine- and assay development studies with elements of experimental design, data analysis and communication of results within the team and to relevant stakeholders both in verbal (e.g. at project meetings) and written forms (e.g. in the form of experimental write-up, slide decks and development reports). The incumbent is expected to maintain accurate and timely records to appropriate quality standards as well as to prepare high quality data summaries, as required.

  • General role responsibilities:
  • Perform experiments, analyze and report results in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Review results accuracy to draw scientific conclusions linked to experimental goals
  • Develop skills and expertise in the Protein Function and Interaction area, with focus on product binding (e.g. ELISA, Octet and/or Biacore), metabolic changes (e.g. enzymatic assays) and characterization of Mode of Action (MoA) through cell-based assays.
  • Develop analytical skills using a range of chromatography-based approaches – such as Protein-A affinity and SEC

Activities:

  • Planning experiments/work and writing electronic lab notebook (20%)
  • Analytical development or sample analysis (60%)
  • Lab Maintenance /Stock taking/ordering (15%)
  • Administration, including time sheets/ departmental meetings etc. (5%)
  • Required experience: previous laboratory experience in analytical techniques with experience in at least one protein function and interaction related techniques (i.e Octet, Biacore, cell culture, enzymatic assays), with applications to product’s functional characterization.


Education:

Degree (required)

BSc in life sciences or equivalent - Biochemistry/Biology/Biomanufacturing

MSc or above - Biochemistry/Biology/Biomanufacturing
