Overview

This role is responsible for supporting Flavour S&T activities. The successful applicant will execute investigations to evaluate novel technologies for flavour systems that delight consumers and accelerate progress towards our PEP+ goals. This role is critical to accelerating work within the Flavor Experiences pillar of Portfolio of the Future.

This role is pivotal in executing complex technical development projects, working to deliver high business priorities on a global scale and leading to the delivery of novel approaches to delivering flavour advantage through our products. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing product samples, coordinate samples testing and tasting and maintaining the flavour lab. Where required, the incumbent will partner with internal colleagues to execute project requests by the Flavour S&T team. Working against project goals defined by role manager and other Flavour S&T members, the incumbent will be required to update stakeholders on project progression and tracking and systematically saving the results. Other requirements include support the Flavour S&T team in completing administration tasks.


Responsibilities

Support product development activities by preparing product samples following recipes defined by the Flavour S&T team. This includes precisely weighing ingredients according to given formulations, season products following food safety protocols, packing product in preparation for sensory testing and/or shipping.Support the Flavour S&T team in submitting samples for sensory and/or analytical analysis. Including using PepsiCo systems for samples submission, tracking and systematically saving the results, labelling and packing the samples for testing.Support the Flavour S&T team in completing administration tasks, such as recipe archiving, file saving etc.Responsible for day to day maintenance of the lab, including ordering of ingredients based on provided recipes, and maintaining the flavour lab in best conditions - ensuring that the lab is a clean and safe space to work.Responsible for maintaining the inventory for ingredients and equipment in the lab.Coordinate sample tasting under the Flavour S&T team instructions.Support the Flavour S&T team with SPBT analytical tests (suite of analytical tests that involve the use of some analytical instrumentation).Partner with cross-functional peers to deliver project requests.Work with external suppliers for ingredients and samples requests.No direct reports.
Qualifications

First Degree or equivalent in a Food Science or Chemistry-related discipline preferred but not essential.At least 12 months experience working or in food business preferred.Computer literate (email, Excel, use of PepsiCo system to submit samples for testing and save files– will receive training).Self-starter with strong self-motivation to drive for results in an innovative, inquiring and scientifically robust manner – able to deal with uncertainty and complexity.Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with team members, sensory analytical lab team members and ingredient suppliers.
