Job purpose

The Quality Systems Specialist ensures the successful management of all UK audits, maintaining full compliance with BRCGS standards and customer requirements. This role supports the delivery of high food safety, quality, and compliance standards by working closely with the Sales team, Food Safety & Quality Systems team, and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Serve as the initial contact for all UK Food Safety and customer standard audits.
  • Conduct audit standard gap analysis, audit preparation and corrective/preventative actions ensuring all non-conformances are addressed.
  • Oversee the UK quality management system, ensuring compliance with BRCGS and Customer Agent & Broker Standards.
  • Conduct annual mock recall and traceability exercises and complete regulatory questionnaires.
  • Act as the main contact for policies and procedures, ensuring site compliance and addressing any issues or derogations.
  • Accreditation and quality alerts.
  • Attend customer webinars, meetings, and provide updates to internal teams.
  • Conduct benchmarking and consistency panels, both internally and externally.
  • Lead complaint handling, root cause investigations, and reporting.
  • Trend complaints data, identify potential issues, and liaise with customers for resolution.
  • Track and report complaint performance to key customers (e.g., Morrison’s, Asda, Tesco, CO-OP).
  • Plan and coordinate customer visits, including travel and agendas.
  • Support the sales team with store visits, sample collection and in-person product cuttings/analysis with customers.
  • Organize and chair HACCP reviews, and senior management FSQS meetings.
  • Coordinate customer training sessions as needed.
  • Attend warehouse and customer meetings and support annual stock checks.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must followGoodManufacturingPractices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field; HACCP Level 4 required.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in food manufacturing and quality assurance, with a strong focus on UK/EU food safety regulations.
  • Proven track record in leading BRCGS and customer, managing corrective actions, and ensuring full compliance with UK/EU standards.
  • Expertise in managing food safety systems, and due diligence tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills to investigate complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective quality improvement strategies.
  • Experience working cross-functionally, and effectively engaging with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
