Job Title:

QC Chemist/Microbiologist

Summary:

We are currently recruiting for QC Chemist/Microbiologist role to join our team in Abingdon, UK.
In this role you will be working within a small team, supporting all microbiological testing requirements across our manufacturing plant through analysis of raw materials, intermediates and final products. This role will also provide support for our QC laboratory.

Responsibilities Include:

To run the day-to-day operation of microbiological laboratory. This includes, but is not limited to:

Performing all product release testing, water testing and any other testing required (ex: validation testing, investigations etc.)

Perform environmental monitoring testing in the factory facilities and in the lab.

Performing proficiency tests

Instruments calibrations and checks

Media prep and quality control

Stock take and managing stock rotation.

General housekeeping

Strict following of company safety protocols, work policies and practices, including relevant risk assessments, compliance with PPE policy, accident and near miss reporting, and housekeeping standards.

Communicate effectively with other departments (inc. technology process tech team, warehouse, production), auditors to ensure quality standards and requirements are met.

Working to a high level of Good Laboratory Practice

Maintain quality documentation (inc. logbooks, calibration documentation, pharmaceutical testing records) so they are always ‘audit ready’

Maintain all database systems.

Maintain good record of rework and out of specification products.

Entering results to Company Operation System.

Good level of computer literacy.

Assisting with support projects (ex. validation testing)

Be forward thinking and look to improve testing and efficient running of the laboratory.

Responsible for maintaining and preparing stocks of reagents.

Being able to interpret quality results and present them.

The post-holder will be involved in helping other Quality Lab sections namely QC or Analytical subject to microbiological laboratory workload.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

Minimum Qualifications:

2-3 years microbiological laboratory experience and good laboratory practice is required for this role.

Good standard of written and spoken English. 

Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel and Word. 

Understanding of the requirements of a busy laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline

Specific silicone chemistry or a discipline that directly impacts our business ( pharmaceuticals, food, personal care etc.)

Validation experience (testing and reports writing)
