Role Overview

You will be reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager with the primary objective of testing manufactured products, incoming and in-process oils and solvents and report creating. You'll also be working closely with the Commercial team in reporting analytical results.

You will have the capacity to learn the bespoke products in depth. You must be capable and confident using computer systems/applications. You'll need to be self-motivated with a positive attitude and capable of being on your feet for periods of time. You'll need excellent attention to detail to ensure you identify product details and any discrepancies on documentation, such as expected standards. You must be able to work with colleagues at all levels, with the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative while maintaining a team approach.

Duties Include

  • Ensuring safety is the top priority, following company safety procedures and rules when conducting all procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and risk-free environment.

  • Participate in testing incoming and outgoing lubricant and solvent products adhering to lab procedures and accurately reporting on LIMS in a time appropriate manner.

  • Participate in electronic sample requests from both Multisol and Brenntag Solvents Commercial, dispatching as required via mainland and international couriers.

  • Liaise with all departments to ensure all products are tested, approved and picked on time.

  • Analysing pre-discharge effluent to ensure that the site discharge policy is adhered to.

  • Ensure equipment is safely calibrated on as required.

  • Ensure and assist with all R&D projects assigned to the Laboratory are completed within the given timescale, including written reports.

  • To be involved in production of pilot blends for new products and report data to relevant departments.

  • Maintain stock levels of lab consumables.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • A Level or HND in a Chemistry related discipline (minimum).

  • Analytical Experience (instrumental and wet chemistry).

  • Proficient in Microsoft O365.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • An excellent eye for detail with good numerical ability.

Desirable

  • Experience working with LIMS, Sage, O365.

  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in analysing lubricants.

  • Experience with ICP-OES, Auto Viscometers, GC, UV-Viz, Moisture (KF) and basic Wet Chemistry techniques.

  • Experience with waste management.

Schedule:

  • The role is 40 hours per week and based on a rotating weekly 4 shift system.

    • Shift 1: 6am - 3pm

    • Shift 2: 7am - 4pm

    • Shift 3: 9am - 6pm

    • Shift 4: 11am - 8pm Mon to Thurs; 9am - 6pm Friday.

(NB: Shift 3 and 4 start/finish times may vary dependant on workload).

  • Includes 1 hour meal break per shift (unpaid).

  • Shift disturbance is accounted for within the annual salary.

  • Monday to Friday.
