Description of role:

We are looking to recruit a full-time and permanent Product Manager for Primerdesign (www.primerdesign.co.uk) based 4 days per month onsite at our Manchester HQ located at Manchester Science Park.


Every business depends on customers. What customers buy – or choose to use – is our product. The product is the result of what the product team builds, and the product manager is responsible for what the product team will build.


The Product Manager is a strategic position in any organisation and is responsible for ensuring customers can and do gain value from our products, and understanding and interpreting new ways for us to create value.


They ensure we are building the right thing, by really solving the right problem for the right customer and building the thing right, in order to create value and growth for the business.

Key areas of responsibility:

Product Management

  • Owning and defining the product vision and strategy for the segment, ensuring that this resonates with users, meets user needs and aligns to the company objectives and priorities.
  • Creating the strategic product roadmap and communicating it across the business.


Discovery:

  • Evaluating opportunities and determining what gets built and delivered to customers through the Gateway process.
  • Leading on voice of customer
  • Providing R&D/Dev teams with curated, specific and clear user stories and acceptance criteria. Collaborating with development to translate into product features, updates or as part of NPD through a structured ideation process.


Delivery:

  • Managing customer feedback backlog and user stories
  • Prioritising based on a deep understanding of acceptance and perceived value from the customer
  • Go To Market plans
  • Sales enablement tools
  • Value proposition and positioning
  • Customer / KOL collaborations to validate and beta test new updates / features
  • Strategic input into business development and key customer accounts to support business pillar leads
  • Pricing models with cross functional support

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

Behaviours:

  • Customer focused – able to put themselves into the shoes of the customer and build rapport
  • Strategic thinker and ability to drive and own a portfolio
  • Self- starter with excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Technically curious and literate
  • Empathy - ability to empathise and develop a deep understanding of what success looks like for the customer
  • Curiosity – the desire to explore problems with the customer and understand the multi-faceted way these can be resolved
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Expectation of up to 30-40% travel – meeting customers and events globally as required

Qualifications:

  • Life science degree (Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or similar)
  • At least 5 years Product Management experience within a technical field
  • Experience in molecular biology
  • Experience in infectious diseases preferrable
  • Experience in human health and animal/veterinary health preferrable
