Salary - £28,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

Hours – 08:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Thursday & early finish Friday’s
20 days holidays + bank holidays

Overview on the role

The Product Development Technician reports to the Product Development Manager (Ingredients). Main tasks are to support the Development department by setting up fermentation tests, conducting lab analysis and hosting internal tastings, developing flavouring formulations, developing ingredient formulations for alcoholic beverage making products and other products for adjacent food & beverage industries, conducting research, and preparing/dispatching samples.

Along with the Product Development Manager (Ingredients) and Development team, to ensure that product quality, legal compliance and expectations of the customers are met.

Key responsibilities

Support the development and testing of new and existing product formulations (NPD/EPD) to meet customer, quality, and legal standards.
Carry out lab-based tasks including fermentation, distillation, and flavour application work.
Accurately record data and test results, maintaining clear documentation for future reference.
Assist in the preparation of experimental methods, raw material sampling, and customer samples.
Participate in taste assessments and shelf-life trials.
Manage sample stock control, storage, and disposal.
Support production trials and technical documentation as required.
Promote a safe working environment and follow all health and safety procedures.
Experience Required

Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Well-organized, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Skilled in problem-solving, multitasking, and analytical thinking.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with strong numeracy skills.
Hands-on experience with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage formulation, including fermentations and flavour compounding.
Knowledge of human nutrition, supplements, functional foods, nootropics, and adaptogens.
Familiar with lab safety protocols, chemical handling, and good laboratory practices.
Degrees required

Degree or qualification in brewing/distilling, biology, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, food science, human nutrition, or natural product discovery (essential)
Laboratory and food manufacturing experience (preferred)
Food safety certification (advantageous)
