Job purpose:

The post holder will support achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives through effective management of the supply chain & procurement processes. Leading supply chain improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance efficiency. Developing action plans to increase profitability through supply chain optimization. Identifying competitive actions from suppliers for raw materials.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Main Duties


  • Ensure the effective management in the flow of goods and services within the Procurement, Planning and Warehouse functions of the business and for the administration of sales orders from receipt to dispatch (Directly or via distribution centre)
  • Working with Regulatory and Quality to ensure raw materials are procured from accredited suppliers and managed through quarantine for release to production in a timely manner.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient procurement processes via the quality system of SOPs and current MRP system in place
  • Maintenance of effective cost control system which provides accurate information on current raw material prices and routings within the GMP production facility. Negotiating terms and prices with suppliers and shipping companies, monitoring and assessing their performance and maintaining cost-effective practices
  • Manage procurement of raw materials from accredited suppliers, cost control, supplier contracts, and logistics.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, planning, and timely material availability to meet production schedules.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Production teams to optimize supplier performance and ensure compliance.
  • Analyse supply chain data, mitigate risks, and drive process improvements via SOPs and MRP systems.
  • Support new product development through material sourcing and costings.
  • Lead and develop a team of two, fostering collaboration and productivity.


Qualification/ Training certificate:


  • Management degree or relevant experience particularly in a pharmaceutical background.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant computer systems including MS Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint), TrackWise and SAP.
  • Right to work in UK


Experience Profile:


  • 7 Plus years of significant Supply Chain & procurement experience including stock control, planning, customer service and Distribution management experience ideally within pharmaceutical or the food manufacturing sector.
  • Management of negotiations including the utilisation of procurement processes including contract development, SLAs and risk assessments
  • Experience in data & cost management.
