Process Commissioning Engineer – Water Industry

About the Role:

We are seeking a Process Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning phase of a high-profile wastewater treatment project within the Southern Water region. This is an excellent opportunity to play a critical role in the delivery of vital infrastructure, ensuring new and refurbished process systems perform to specification.

Our client is open to considering Mechanical Commissioning Engineers with a solid understanding of wastewater treatment processes and a proactive, solution-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead and manage the commissioning of process plant systems across wastewater treatment sites.

Interpret P&IDs and commissioning documentation to deliver end-to-end system validation.

*

Liaise with design, construction, and operational teams to support a seamless handover.

*

Undertake functional testing, cause & effect testing, and ensure systems meet performance criteria.

*

Troubleshoot issues related to process performance, instrumentation, and system control.

*

Provide technical input into design reviews, plant optimisation, and commissioning strategy.

*

Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety and environmental standards.

Requirements:

*

Background in process, chemical, or mechanical engineering.

*

Previous commissioning experience within wastewater treatment or similar process-heavy environments (e.g. sludge handling, chemical dosing, biological treatment).

*

Strong understanding of water process systems and flow paths.

*

Familiarity with MCCs, instrumentation, pumps, valves, and treatment processes.

*

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

*

CSCS or EUSR Water Hygiene card
