Job Description We are seeking aPrincipal Service Designer to join us on an 18-month fixed-termcontract. At Genomics England, Principal Service Designers play apivotal role in shaping and leading the design of our mostimpactful services and programmes. Everyday responsibilitiesinclude: 1. Lead the design of our Healthcare Genomics Service,from design strategy to execution. 2. Identify opportunity areas toexplore for service improvements and solutions, based on deepunderstanding and contextual knowledge of the service and itsusers, including establishing service governance methods whereappropriate. 3. Raise awareness and visibility of design andresearch work and help upskill colleagues when necessary. 4.Recommend, advocate for, and participate in design research. 5.Scope own work and help scope other service designers' workeffectively across the service area. 6. Actively coach and mentorfellow designers, helping them grow their skills and confidentlytackle complex service challenges. 7. Co-create the service visionand strategy with the Service owners, helping the team imaginefutures, employing user-centred and data-driven practices. 8.Collaborate efficiently with product and service delivery teams toensure connectedness and cohesion of the service experience alongkey touch points, and to ensure experiences can be implemented asintended. 9. Facilitate decision making and co-creation acrossmultiple teams, including internal and external stakeholders,through appropriate methods, innovating on methods where necessary.10. Understand and mitigate risk through design, aware of theregulatory frameworks and standards that may govern their service,including medical device regulations and Government digitalstandards. 11. Lead the creation and maintenance of servicepatterns, standards, and tools for new and existing services,ensuring they are utilised, maintained, and updated to ensurecohesive end-to-end services. 12. Lead by example by sharing theirwork, seeking, and sharing feedback from colleagues in DesignStudio and other relevant team forums. 13. Know and understand themeaning behind our virtues and leadership behaviours and embodythem in all aspects of their role. Skills and Experience forsuccess: You will bring a varied skill set rooted in human-centreddesign, with strengths in facilitation, systems thinking,prioritization, communication, and stakeholder management. You arewell-versed in bringing a user-centred focus to the team’s work,whilst being able to speak the language of various stakeholders inthe business from technology to operations to other subject matterexperts. You have an innate curiosity to learn more about thedomain we are working in, Genomic healthcare and service delivery.You have experience in designing for complex and/or regulatedservices such as healthcare, logistics, energy, government, orfinance. You have worked within GDS/NHS standards and understandservice design and delivery in public sector context. You haveexperience in working under quality management and medical deviceregulations, and are familiar with standards including ISO 13485,14971, and 62366 (highly preferable). Qualifications Whilequalifications are valuable, we place equal importance on yourhands-on experience as a Principal Service Designer.
