Senior / Principal Geotechnical EngineerPERSON SPECIFICATIONSummaryOur client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing geotechnical consultancy team spanning the Land and Marine Divisions for projects in the energy and infrastructure markets. As part of a wider global team, our UK based Geotechnical Engineering Team has a growing portfolio of international projects ranging from concept through to detailed design, life extension and decommissioning.Job SummarySuccessful applicants will be required to independently review and critique geotechnical data, subsequently derive appropriate design soil parameters and apply these in a variety of standard and non-standard geotechnical engineering applications to the highest quality and health and safety standards. Successful candidates will become responsible for a small team of geotechnical engineers and supervise their team on routine and non standard engineering projects and recommend and implement improvements in specific operational and/or technical areas.Key RequirementsApplicants will have demonstrable technical, commercial, project management and people management skills; experience in a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment with a desire to continually learn. Applicants are required to have:■ A robust academic background with relevant degree (e.g. civil engineering, geotechnics or similar) ideally at MSc level or above;■ Excellent technical skills in relation to energy and/or infrastructure geotechnical design;■ Demonstrable experience in managing technically and commercially successful projects;■ Excellent organisational skills;■ Achieved or have evidence that they are close to achieving chartered status;■ Knowledge of key industry design standards and codes within their area of experience;■ The ability to understand, interpret and critique results from standard and advanced laboratory testing, and be able to derive appropriate design soil parameters. Experience of the interpretation and design application of dynamic and cyclic soil testing is desirable;■ The ability to lead and develop teams;■ Competence in using or a desire to learn how to appropriately use geotechnical engineering software such as, but not limited to: GRLWEAP; PLAXIS 2D; PLAXIS 3D; Python; LimitState:Geo; SlopeW; Matlab; MathCad;■ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;■ The ability to produce accurate numerical and written work with attention to detail;■ Experience and confidence in client liaison and client management;■ A creative thought process to engineering problems.
