About the opportunity

Due to our growing portfolio of design projects and long-term framework expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Architect / Associate Director to join our Architectural design team in London, Birmingham or Manchester offices.

Cities and Places deliver exciting and challenging projects across a broad range of sectors including transport infrastructure, defence, education, research and technology. This opportunity is for an Architect or Senior Architect with strong design skills to provide design delivery and discipline integration of architectural design into projects delivered by our exceptional teams.

Role Outline

This opportunity is for a Principal / Associate Director level Architect with strong client interfacing skills to lead the design delivery and discipline integration of architectural design into projects delivered by our talented teams.

As a project leader in the Architectural design team, you will play a crucial role in the promoting of effective working methods across projects and offices, establishing high value architectural solutions and engaging with the Jacobs team at all levels to promote the efficient delivery of architectural design.

You will also be working on projects across the UK and Europe, alongside our Architects within a multi-disciplinary design team set-up, delivering design solutions across multiple sectors from Public sector, Defence, Energy & Power, Aviation, Transportation, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Mixed-Use development.

You will lead design teams and manage the Architectural delivery part on a range of projects across all stages of the building design and construction process from initial strategic briefing, where client objectives and feasibility studies are undertaken, through to development of conceptual and technical proposals, to construction phase delivery.

You will be working independently and take design responsibility for decision-making and output deliverables within your project team and through strong design coordination and collaboration skills you will assume a key role within multi-disciplinary design team. We are seeking individuals with strong design and communication skills with a collaborative working and positive, can-do attitude.

They will need to be able to work independently and take design responsibility for decision-making and output deliverables. Proven problem solving abilities and attention to detail is a must.

Successful candidates will be:

* Qualified ARB Architect in the UK with professional registration
* Degree in Architecture and/or Urban Design
* MA or MSc higher education qualification to RIBA Part 3
* Professional experience of the delivery multi-disciplinary design and construction projects
* Knowledge of BIM based delivery including Autodesk Revit/BIM360
* Ability to lead Architectural teams on large Multi-Disciplinary design projects
* Advanced English language skills

Desirable:
* Knowledge of multiple design sectors including complex infrastructure projects
* Good working knowledge of statutory regulations within the United Kingdom
* Strong Design Drawing and written communication skills
* Experience of preparing Bids and Proposals
* Ability to travel within the UK and Europe to periodically to support project delivery
