Mantell Associates are proudly partnered with a Globally recognised CDMO in their search for a Principal Analyst (Spectroscopy) to join their team.


Principal Analyst (Spectroscopy) - Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage spectroscopy-based analytical methods (UV-Vis, IR, NMR, MS) to support drug development, including early-phase clinical trials to commercial production.
  • Provide strategic technical expertise for spectroscopy in both routine and complex analytical testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
  • Oversee method development, validation, and transfer to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to spectroscopic instrumentation and data interpretation, ensuring the highest levels of quality control.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts, offering training on advanced spectroscopy techniques, instrument maintenance, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality control, and regulatory affairs, to ensure timely and efficient project progression.
  • Review and interpret analytical data, preparing clear, concise reports to present findings to both internal teams and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and GLP standards, maintaining meticulous documentation of analytical processes, results, and deviations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in spectroscopy and analytical techniques to ensure the department remains at the forefront of industry innovation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the spectroscopy department, identifying opportunities to optimize processes and increase efficiency.


Principal Analyst (Spectroscopy) - Requirements:


  • 5 GCSE (or equivalent) passes, grades A-C, including Mathematics and English Language or leaving certificate
  • Degree level qualification in an Analytical/Chemistry related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Higher Level Qualification in relevant discipline, including significant industry experience
  • Previous relevant laboratory experience & in a GMP/GLP environment
  • Experience in method development and/or validation
  • Experience of MS analysis of peptides and proteins as well as small molecules
  • Demonstrated hands on experience in one or more of the following MS techniques in an industrial environment; LC-MSn, GC-MSn
  • Experience of structure elucidation and quantitative analysis using MS
