Job Description About the Role Applications are soughtfor an exciting opportunity within the Ciccarelli lab, within theCentre for Cancer Evolution, Barts Cancer Institute. We are seekingan independent, highly motivated computational PostdoctoralResearch Assistant to lead on an established and successfulresearch line aimed at understanding the genetic events that drivecancer evolution. We have a long-lasting interest to identifycancer drivers from genomic data using machine learning (MourikisNature Comms 2019, Nulsen Genome Medicine 2021), study theirinterplay the immune microenvironment (Misetic Genome Medicine2023) and dissect their context -dependent role during cancerevolution (Ganguli, Nature Cancer, 2025). We also maintain a highlyaccessed resource of cancer genes(http://network-cancer-genes.org/) The post holder will have twomain responsibilities. From one side, they will collaborate closelywith wet lab scientists in our team and analyse mutational andtranscriptomic data coming from experiments aimed to understand whyparticular mutations help or hamper tumour formation. From theother, they will be responsible to update and enlarge ourrepository of cancer genes. The Ciccarelli lab is highlycollaborative and interdisciplinary and the ability to work in ateam is essential. About You The successful candidate will beexpected to have a PhD degree in biological or computationalsciences or equivalent, with solid knowledge of computationalcoding applied to genomics. Significant research laboratoryexperience in genomic and transcriptomic computational dataanalysis is essential, as well as experience in statistics andcoding. About the School/Department/Institute/Project Our group isbased in the Centre for Cancer Evolution at the Barts CancerInstitute and are affiliated with the Francis Crick Institute, apioneering biomedical research institute in London where our wetlab is located. We are also part of Cancer Research UK City ofLondon Centre, which sponsor our high-performance computer clusterfacility.
