As a pharmacy technician, you ensure patient safety by accurately preparing and dispensing medications. Your efficiency in managing inventory and processing prescriptions allows pharmacists to focus on patient care. By providing excellent customer service and medication guidance, you enhance patient satisfaction and adherence to treatment plans. Key Position Details:
This is a casual position with day shift hours, Monday - Friday. Shifts are 8-hours per day with no weekend or holiday requirements.

Job Description:
Provides basic drug distribution and drug preparation services. Checks pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions, including chemotherapy and other pharmaceutical therapies. Double checks medication distribution, monitors controlled substances and provides backup for the Pharmacy Buyer. Leads work involving automated dispensing cabinets inventory and monitoring. The technician functions under the supervision of the pharmacist.

Principle Responsibilities
Completes some or all of the following, according to specific needs at the site. Conduct double-check of medication using barcode scanning technology prior to restocking of Automated Dispensing Cabinets or unit dose cart fill.
Prepare sterile parenteral medications for home infusion.
Coordinate care with liaisons, RN Care Coordinator and bill staff.
Manage patient paperwork and billing documentation.
Assign medication pockets in Automated Dispensing Cabinets. Ensure timely loading and unloading of medications into Automated Dispensing Cabinets. Troubleshoot issues and malfunctioning equipment.
Maintain controlled substance monitoring and inventory. Conduct routine audits to monitor for controlled substance diversion. Conduct in-depth investigation, as needed.
Procure medications and pharmacy supplies. Process invoices. Monitor inventory and alert managers when unable to purchase sufficient supply. Identify alternate vendors, as needed.
Conduct analysis of Automated Dispensing Cabinets Activity to optimize inventory and vend to refill ratio. Assist with maintenance of Automated Dispensing Cabinets. Complete special projects to optimize inventory.

Completes the following activities, as needed, to support completion of pharmacy workload as needed Prepare medications, parenteral products, and chemotherapy.
Manage and support automated drug distribution by picking, delivering and restocking medications, and assisting with returns, waste, and reporting/resolution of discrepancies.
Repackage and label bulk medications or split tablets into unit dose packaging, which includes creating labels; filling and prepackaging medications, and assigning expiration dates.
Completes quality assurance activities (e.g., medication expiration checking), as assigned.
Provide customer service.
Answer phone and directs calls to appropriate party

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
0 to 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Vocational or Technical Training from an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred
2 to 5 years of pharmacy technician experience

Licenses/Certifications
Registered Pharmacy Technician - MN Board of Pharmacy required upon hire
Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required within 12 months of Date of Hire

Pay Range
Pay Range: $22.71 to $31.13 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
